UX/UI Internship 2022

Brief
Over the summer, I was on the design team who oversaw Bluebeam University, an educational product for newcomers navigating Bluebeam Cloud, empowering them to effortlessly markup and edit PDFs. Working closely with another designer intern, I developed an FAQ page for the Bluebeam Certified Professional Exam.
Goal
To reduce emails to customer support by designing an FAQ page for Bluebe
Duration
1 week
Approach
-
Compile a list of the most frequently asked questions
-
Organize questions into categories
-
Use the Bluebeam University style guide for visual consistency
User Research
A fellow design intern and I met with the Customer Support team at Bluebeam to gather questions. Asked for 50 emails from customers and created a list of the ones that came up 3 times or more.
Additionally, myself and my fellow intern had never used Bluebeam University and we did an audit of the website to come up with our own questions.
Organizing
We took all of the questions and sorted them into categories and put them in order of importance:
-
General Inquiries
-
Exam Procedure
-
Exam Results
-
Badges
-
About the Bluebeam Certified Professional Exam
Design

We used the style guide & design system that the Bluebeam University team followed. However, the links are private.
Version 1
Originally, we designed the questions in sections with dropdown menus. After reviewing with the Design Lead, we learned that we were limited to HTML & CSS. She informed us that our design would need Java Script and we had to scrap Version 1.
Version 2

We took out the drop down menus.
I suggested that we use bullet points instead of numbers because there is no order that the user must follow. The user can go to whichever section answers their questions and fulfills their needs.
Up Close & Personal
*Note: This is a slice of the whole pie, not the entire page

Takeaways
During this internship, I practiced my skills in user research, and using a style guide & design system. I learned that it is important to check in with the engineers multiple times, before starting a project and before the final designs for efficiency. It is critical to know the scope and the boundaries.
